PRESENTATION TO MR JOHN BAGGE.

On Saturday evening last the members of the Masterton Post and Telegraph Office met after the eveniug mail, for the purpose of presenting Mr John Bagge, who for the last 19 years hns held the position of Postmaster at Masterton, and who is retiring after 35 years Govern, ment service, with some mark of the esteem in which he is held by his subordinateofficers. The presentation —which consisted of a biscuit barrel, butter dish and sugar bowl, in oak and silver-was made by Mr W. Gillespie, senior officer, who referred to Mrßaggo's long and honorable connection with tho Department, and the regret felt at losing him. He hoped they might all retire with as good a record as Mr Bagge did. Mr Bagge, who was visibly affected, heartily thanked thorn all for the unexpected mark of their good feelinu. He assured them ho should never forget his connection with thorn, and tho kindly feeling which had always existed. Ho trusted that each of those present might rise to worthy positions in tho service, and for their future succoss all had bis bost wishes. Three hearty cheers for Mr Bagge, brought to a close a very pleasing little episode in the annals of the Masterton Post and Telegraph De-i partment.
