Mastektok, Monday. Messrs R. E. Hornblow k Co., auctioneers and produce merchants, report as follows, for week onding Saturday, March 2Brd We have to report a marked improvement in our sales during the week, although prices for produce hayo not gone up. There has bcon a good demand at current rates. In eggs, the market is firm, higher prices being obtained. Butter has not altered. Poultry of every description are fetching satisfactory prices. We had no entries in pigs last week. There were several enquiries, and any lines offered would have realised good prices, The various lines in oats, wheat, chaff, etc., aro witbont any material alteration. In grass seeds, the supplies are offering more freely, but previous quotations are barely maintained. Potatoes are plentiful and last week's rates ruling. Horses were a special feature at our Saturday sale. The sale was quite a representative one, buyeis being present from the Lower Valley and Forty-mile Bush. The entries wero large, embracing ponies, hacks, hunters, and draughts. The bidding was spirited throughout and exceptional prices obtained, Several horses not disposed of will bo offered again at our next Saturday's horse sale, Business in our land departments is fairly brisk, and in addition to several properties under offer, we disposed of one leasehold in the Parkville district. Our quotations are Eggs lid per dozen, butter 5d per lb. Poultry—Fowls 2s 3d to 2s 9d; ducks 4s 3d to 4s 7d; geese, 5s 4d per pair, Oats Is 6d to Is lid; oaten sheaf 2s 2d to 2s 6d ; straw Is Id, Potatoes rule from £2l4s to £3 2s 6d per ton, Onions lfd per lb. Rabbit skins 2jd to 3d per lb. Horses—Hacks £4 to £7 ; light harness do £8 to £9 10s ; ponies, £6 ss; light draught £l2 to £ls; brood mares and foals £7los to £l3.
