Mr William Perry moved in accordance with notice given that this Association will best carry out its objects by holding its annual shows in the Autumn, The motion was then put and declared carried, Mr Meredith dissenting, EJECTION OF PRESIDENT. Mr Cameron proposed Mr W, H. Beetham for the office of President. No other nominations were received, Mr Beetham said that he must thank them for the honor of choosing him. It had been suggested to him that he accept the office some weeks ago, and ho had carefully considered the matter from all points of view. He believed the President of such a Society should he an enthusiast, and should holp the Socioty in every way, The strongest argument used was that if he accepted the office it would be the means of healing soreness and wounds. Ho refrained from going back to the source of enmity amongst the settlers, because while admitting ho had felt some bitterness in the past, he preferred to let by-gones be by-gones and if be could assist the healing of soreness he would be pleased to accept the position. He could not have done eo, however, if the Society had decided on carrying on under the old conditions as the two Shows were too close together. He might say that he had never heard of Autumn Shows beinga great success, but doubtless by introducing other fruits of the earth, they might arrango i very pleasant gathering. He would have preferred to have seen some other one selected, but in the interests of the Society he had decided to accept the position. (Applause.) Mr Lowes said he would just like to point out that reports of three Autumn Shows held in tho Auckland district, had been handed to him by Mr Sykes, and they had proved highly successful. Mr Beetham said he had no desire to bo connected with an unsuccessful concern, and therefore, sincerely (hoped their Shows would prove a success. VICE-PRESIDENT. Lowes in returning thanks said that he had hoped to have been able to have nominated some other member for the office, but in view of 1 the changes made he had been in- ' duced to accept the office for at anyrate, another year.
