FIRE AT UPPER PLAIN.
A dwelling on the Upper Plain was destroyed by fire, between eleven and twelve last night. It was tonanted by Mr H, Dagg, who at the time, was from home, and was occupied by Mrs Dagg and, we believe, five children, The family were aroused by the roar of the lire, and at once called for assistance from tho nearest neighbours, Messrs Wheeler and F. Harrison. But by the time those arrived, the roof was in full blaze, and shortly after fell in. The children wore rescued in their night dresses, and a little bedding was dragged out, but nothing else was or could be saved. Tho house is the property of Mr Robert Wilton, aud is insured in the N.Z, Insurance Co., for £150; but as far as we can learn, Mr H. Dagg's furniture was uninsured, and |he is a considerable loser by tho catastrophe,
