MASTERTON K. GREYTOWNII. [by damocm;?.] Masterton journeyed to Greytown on Saturdliy, and defeated the second fifteen by 34 runs. The home team went first to the wickets, and ran up 5S runs, extras being top with eleven, Hawko and Jlaguire making seven each, Broad took the majority of the wickets, his bowling, as usual, being very effective. Masterton made 92, against very soft bowling, Moore being not out with 29 His score included one six and two fours. Broad 17, Perry 11, and Cotterill and Darroch, eight each, were the next in order, The following were the scores
Greytown defeated Carterton on Saturday by ten runs. This win practically puts them in a fair way for the championship of tho season, Mastorton lmvc only one more match to play for tho championship —that against Matarawa on April 6th. Blackham has played in 46 international matches, andßannermanin 36, Eady, the Tasumnian cricketer, is a fine all-round athlete, He is 6ft. 2in. high, and besides being a good oarsman and boxer, is regarded as one of the best footballers in the Colony. Jones, of Adelaide, is probably the faster bowler in Australia. In a rocent match he sent down a ball which struck tho wicket-keeper, Brunton, square on the top of the head, and the ball rebounded to the pavilion fence. Brunton played no more that day. The Hon. J, S. Udal, who captained the Fiji team recently through tho Colony, reckons Broad,of Nelson, one of the best bats in Now Zealand. Lyons, of South Australia, has the record for a "sky-ball."
