WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present-Messrs J. R. Blair (Chairman), W, W. McCardie, J. Young, F. Bradey, W. A. Fitzherbert, Vf. C. Buchanan, M.H.R,, and F.H, Eraser. The following business affecting this district was dealt with : The Committee which investigated the Mnuriceville School affairs reported that it bad beon unable to satisfy itself as to the truth of the charges made against the head teacher, Mr John M'Konzio. The evidenco tendered was extremely conflicting, and was characterised by the inability of either side to fix even approximate dates of the acts charged against the head teacher. The particular nets imputed were vory vaguely defined, and seemed to amount, at most, to indiscretions, even if they had been proved. As, however, considerable feeling had been aroused, the Committee recommended the removal of Mr McKenzie, to another district, as early as possible, The School Committee also wrote, recommending tho transfer of Miss Franklin, pupil teachor. It was decided to adopt tho report, and give effect to the request of the School Committee,' Miss Bairstow was appointed to be pupil teacher at the Clareville School, and Miss Lilian M. Tocker at Kaiwaiwai, Mr R, Foss was transferred from Carterton to Otaki, and it was resolved to accede to the requests of Misses Walton and Toohill, to bo transferred frora Dreyertown and Bketahuna respectively, as! soon as suitable opportunities.occur, A sum of £lO was voted to Mr W. Toohill for service as relieving l
teacher at Eketahuna. A request from Miss Dora Barnard, Eaiwaiwai for payment on the same basis as the previous teacher, was declined. An application from the Park Vale Committee for a grant for providing horse-stalls, for the convenience of children who ride to school, was refused. Friction between tho Chairman of ihe Mangamahoe School Committee and Mr Leete, head teachor, was referred to the Chairman of tho Board to deal with.
A communication was received from Newman as to the necessity for bettor accommodation, and notifying that the Public Hall, at present being used for school purposes, will not be available after the 30th June, A reply was directed to be sent that the Board could do nothing at present in tho matter of providing a new school.
