AKITIO ROAD BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING

A meeting of the Board was held on Thursday last. Present: Messrs Handyside (chairman), Armstrong and Burling. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read— From T. and W, Pickett, applying for repairs to the road to Mangatiti. From County Engineer, re progress payment forms.

From Mr A, Herbert, re completion of No. 2 contract, Aohanga Valley. From Commissioner of Crown Lands, asking for information in respect to the Fair Rent Bill. From Treasury, re payment made of thirds and fourths, £2719s Id.

From Commissioner of Crown Lands, refusing to supply information gratis in connection with special fettleraents.

From same re the re-survey of the road from Makora to Waihoki and furnishing tracing to show proposed alteration.

From District Land and Survey Office re grant of £3OO for Aohanga road.

Messrs Pickett's application was allowed to stand over to ascertain if they would not prefer a road to join the Alfredtoii-Webcr road, The Clerk was instructed to indicate on the tracing the proposed doviation in the road from Jlahora toWailioki,'

It was resolved that the grant of £3OO from Government be expended in opening the Aohanga road from No. 2 Contract to Williams' crossing, about two miles, and that the plans be forwarded to the Assistant Surveyor General for his approval. The tender of Mr M. Ken-ins for No. 3 Contract, Aohanga Valley road, was the only one received, and was accepted at £159, and for culvert £95 declined, It was resolved that the Board undortake the work of erecting the culvert in Hennessy's contract by day labour, and that the clerk procure the necessary timber. The Clerk was directed to inform Mr Herbert that the Board had decided to complete No. 2 Contract, Aohanga Valley, and would charge him with costs,

Accounts amounting to £.lB 0s 3d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
