—•— (By Telegraph.—Press Association). Dunedin, Fiidny. At the Police Court, Charles Henry Nicholls was charged with > not closing his shop on tho halfholiday. It was stated that he was under the impression thatas the shop was kept by himself and his wife he was not required to close. Mr Carew thought the mistake reasonable and only imposed a fine of Is, with costs 17s 6d. Two Chinamen were also fined under the Act, |V A test case was heard as to "whether fruiterers could claim exemption from closing under the Act if in addition seeds, vegetables, and plants were sold. Mr threw, S.M.. said that the defendant (James Pryor) by combining the sale of either vegetables or seeds with that of fruit kept himself out of the exception in section 20 of the Act, He was convicted and fined Is with costs,
