Carterton Notes

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. The School Committee last night decided to send a report of the circumstances connected with the dispute between the local Committee and the Education Board, to the Minister of Justice with a view to getting the clause in the Act relating to ;i Consulting Committees on the appointment of teachers" clearly delined. A formal protest, by resolution, was entered on the minute book, against tlicaction of the Board, and an objection against their taking possession of the school and residence.

Mr Bennett, the now head teacher, took possession of the school yesterday. He returned to Eketshuna the same day to make arrangements for moving his family down.

[ Mr Brainier, whilst driving home to Masterion on Sunday evening was thrown from his buggy while at- ; tempting to get his foot on to the break, his horso having bolted. The buggy afterwards struck a telegraph post and threw the ladies out on to tho side of the road. The buggy was smashed and a fresh conveyance was engaged to take tho much bruised party home.

Young Herbert Bayliss, in trying to stop his runaway horse and cart at the Taratabi factory, yesterday, was knocked down and the wheel of the cart and half ton load, went over his loins. Peal's of internal injuries were entoriained, but it is now thought beyond being badly bruised, lie is uninjured. Tho Wairarapa Pastoral Society made a profit of £2OO on the last show.
