DEATH OF A NOVELIST.

Tho Upoln, fi'om Samoa, brings news of the death of Hobert Louis Stevenson, the celebrated novelist, he was hard at work till four o'clock iu the afternoon, and two hours later bo complained to his wife of strange pains in bit neck and almost immediately became unconscious. The members of bis family were callod in and medical assistance obtained, but when tho doctor arrived he saw there was 110 hope. Mr Stevenson expired at 8.10. The cause of death was apoplexy. Later. Mr Stevenson's death occurred on December 3rd, His health of late has been so improved, that his relatives hoped his lung trouble was gradually ceasing. He bad put through an enormous amount of work in a very powerful novel to be called "Tho Heir of Hermistor," and it was about half finished.
