CORRESPONDENCE.

In Need.

[To m Editor W.D. Tim]

Sib, —Many of your readers Trill have noticed about our streets a young man on cratches, His leg was recently amputated in the hospital, and so ho is, incapacitated for his ordinary bnsb. employments, deprived, in fact, of his livelihood, Further than this, he has no home, his parentß, who live at some dis, tance, being old and infirm, and dependent rather upon what support their children can give them, than able to support a crippled son. The Benevolent Trustees have

just made this young fellow a grant of six shillings a week, which, while it is a help, is wholly inadequate for Lis support. There is therefore need! for help from the charitably dia-' posed. As ho is a raombor of the '. Anglican Churoh, I venture to take! the lend in this matter, and would : especially appeal to my own people! to' assist mo in the effort; with the I more boldness, as Christmas is a j time of kindliness and goodwill. My proposal amounts to this. As to his board and lodging, I have made' myself responsible, for a time at any | rate. What is required is a fund to' bo administered for the following ob- • jects: (1) Securing him a livelihood, (a) whether by starting him in a small shop, or (b) by teaching 1 him a trade; and (2) procuring himj an artificial leg. In these two ways • we shall be placing a livelihood: and independence within his reach, j Any sums of monoy forwarded to me { for this purpose shall be duly ac- j knowledged weekly in your paper; and carefully administered for the' benefit of our friend in need. If' anyone could for the present give, him light employment at a moderate' wage it would be a great help and encouragement to the poor fellow. I am Sir, yours etc., I

Aiex. Campbell Yorke, The Parsonage, Deo, 14,1894.
