Monthly Meeting. * The ordinary monthly meeting of the Council was held yesterday. Present: Crs von Men (Chairman), R, Maunsell, J. Stuckey, W. H. Beetham, J, Groves, aud CockburnHood. MINUTES, Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, VALUATION ROU. From YV. B. Matheson, covering a fair copy of books of valuation for the Country for approval. The books were considered satisfactory, and the Clerk instructed to ask Mr Matheson to see the Chairman or Clerk re slight alterations to be attended to. CONFERENCE. From Mr Gray, clerk to the Mauriceville Road Board, reappointing a day for adjustment of accounts. The date of the Conference was fixed for tho 9th of January, 1895. MOUNTUAKER ROAD. ' From W. Claridgere contract carried out under Mr Greville, on Mt, Baker Road, and askingforpaymenfc. —Referred to Mr Greville. MANGAOXE VAMiEY. From settlers in tho Maugaoue Valley asking that balance of loan be spent at once in metalling. _ Bcsolved that the applicants be informed that the Engineer has been instructed re the work, TAUERU RESERVE. From G. Townsend, sear,, offering £5 per year, with option of renewal for ten years for lease of the road reserve at the Taueru. Ho promised to effect the improvements stated in a former letter. Resolved that the offer be accepted and a lease given for ten years with option of another fivo years, GENERAL. From S. Turkington, Puketoi, in reference to rates. He also wrote at length in regard to felling and clearing a road line at bis property. The letter was referred to the Engineer, Clerk and Mr B.Smith. From the Pahiaka Herald Company, asking for a share of the County advertising. Resolved to reply that the Council does not see its way.to extend thoir advertising i From the Treasury declining to ] advise re payment for compensation ' out of loan for damage done to feno- ' ing on Pori Road.—Received. !
