(By Telegraph,-Own Correspondent), Paiiiatca, Saturday. The Firo Brigade Band's Annual Ball took place last night, and was fairly well attended. From every other point of view, tho affair was a great success. Mr Ferngrovo acted as M.O. A presentation was made to Mr F, Holder, Secretary of the Baud, on behalf of the ladies who have attended • the Band's weekly assemblies, which wero a great success, mainly owing to Mr F. Holder's efforts, Tho articles presented ,wero a gold scarf pin and phologhaphic album, Captain Pickering 'made the presentation, Music was supplied by Messrs G, Mills, (piano), o..Avery, (violin), and the Band. Anaccident happened to a young nmi| ifflfadovfid on a bushfallingcon- ' tract™" tfilloughby's, Makuri, He rt slipped and cut his leg seriously below tho shin. He was brought in and attonded by I)r Gault. Tuesday next is to he observed as a half-holiday in the town, the occasion being the celebration of the opening of the Tiraumea bridge at 1 Ngaturi, Tho Premier and several Ministers, and Messrs Hogg and Hall, M.ER.'s aro expected to he present, .
