Monthly Meeting.

The usual monthly meeting of tho above Board was 'jeld on Saturday, Present—Wardens Matthews (chairman), W, E. Uidwill, Evans, Harris, Jno, Donald, AlcLeod, J. P, Russell, and Nix, ■' TIIEASUBEII's STATEMENT. Tbefreasurerreportcd the amount of the gross overdraft as £1046. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £531 were passed for payment, COBBESPOXDEKCE, The outwards correspondence was read, and that inwards was dealt with as follows: • From C.Phaimynrtf Stony Creek Road. From the Commissioner of Crown Lands re same, It was resolved to grant the deviation. The Commissioner of Crown Lauds re the Papawai Hoad, notify-, ing that tho fences -should not bo moved till after tho Hues had been surveyed by Mr Thompson. G. Knapp re the collection of rates, asking for extension of time for payment, \\ was resolved tq grant permissiop. . ' . , W. ty. Bjcknell re drain, on Martinbqrough Hoad wanting cleaning out; Ungipi'was instructed to see to thie. P
J. Wyoty nskiiig for the'drain in front of Forges, at Kaiwaiwai, to be olonncd out, Enginoer was instructed to have it cleaned out. F. A. Thompson re the extension of the Driscol - Hoad. Same asking if any arrangements have been made with Mr Douglas re, his road 'rom Mr Adams and Mr Sutherland. The Clork was instructed to write and ask Mr Sutherland whother ho has any objections to tho road being laid off.
Tho County Council enclosing chequo for £l3O, being final settlement for tho Mnrtinborough-Pahnu Hoad.
I H. H. Wolters re Oyster Shell ~ Creek Road, explaining tho original • construction ; as to how it was acI quired from tho Hon. J. Martin. It ' was resolved that, tho Lands Department should ho notified of the samo so that they can legalism the road. I'KTITIOX. A petition was presented signed by 38 ratepayers, asking that an enquiry should !h made into tho cause of the dismissal of D, Heagerty senr. from the Board's employ. The Clerk was instructed to reply that Mr Heagerty has not been dismissed from tho Board's omploy, TKBDERS. • Tho following tenders woro received for the formation of Riley's Spur, Stoney Crook Road:—(Accepted), E. Kelly, £1 8s 9d. Do-elincd-J, T. Smith, £1 13s; D. Heagerty, junr, £2 4s; T. Green, away, £llss; C. Nelson, £ll4s sd, KXIIIXKKIt's lIKTOIIT. The Engineer's report was read. It was resolved that tho mattor of tho Tmihoreiiikau protective works should be left. in the hands of tho Works Committee WOIiKS COMJIITTBK IIRPOHT. The Works Committco's report was read and adopted. Mr Bidwill brought it under the notice of the Board that cattle are , always on the road now, and it was ' resolved that the Banger should be ' instructed to see into this. '
It was resolved that a Finance Committee, consisting of Messrs Matthew, Bidwill and Donald bo appointed. It was resolved that arrangements should be made with the Bank of N.Z. relative to an over-draft, It was resolved, on the motion of Mr W, Bidwill, seconded by Mr Jas. Donald, that the Government subsidy should be devoted to the bridges account, and that a contribution be raised to wipe oil the dobit balance on the account.
The requirements of wardens wero ■eceived and authorised.
