CUSTOMS REVENUE.
The Customs revenue during the financial year 1893-4 wa5£1,655,503, as compared with £1,642,595 for 1892-3, Tho principal ports contributed tho following Auckland, £368,121 j Wellington, £359,341; Cliristchurch, £265,682; Dunedin, £362,273; Napier, £72,804, For the June quarter of 1894, the Customs revenue was £364,636, as compared with £383,523 for the corresponding period of last year. The principal items of revenuo in Juuo quarter of '94, were: Spirits,£9o,43B j cigars and cigarettes, £11,043; tobacco, £53,524; tea, £25,677 ; sugar, £28,984; weight goods, £36,722; advalwcm duties, £76,340. The principal falling off'was in ad valorem, £IO,BOO. This is probably owing to tho large sales of drapery stocks recently held in the Colony, notably those of McArthur and Co,, at Auckland, and Edwards, Bennett nnd Co,, at Oliristcliurcli. The beer duty for the financial year 1893-94 was £61,810. Of this Auckland contributed £13,981; Wellington, £6584 ; Christehurch, £10,851; Dunedin, £14,689.
