FEATHERSTON NOTES.

Monday, On Saturday night a special meetlug of tho Town Board was held to deal with applications for use of tho Town Hall, Thero wero present: Messrs Eoynolds, Searl, A, Donald, and Becl. Mr Donald was voted to the chair. The following applications were received and dealt with as follows: Mr C, W. Tringlmni, for use of a room twice a week for an oflico. • Hesolvcd to let this matter stand over for n while, From Fenthei'ston Qimdrillo Assembly, for- use of Hall every Wednesday, from 8 till 10 p.m.—fiesolvcd to stand over till after meeting on Tuesday night. Mr 11. 'fait, asking for use of the Hall on August 16th, for Oddfellows' Ball,—Permission was granted. Mr Nevillo Thornton, re scene painting—The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge receipt of his communication.
It wis resolved to leaso the Hall for a period and to meet on Tuesday night, when rales and regulations and scale of charges would be drawn up andsubmitted by Messrs Reynolds and A, Donald,
Mr Scarl informed the meeting that Mr Keys, the late Clcik, whp resigned his position as Clerk to, the Board, still collects fees for the Cemetery,maintaining that he had not relinquished his position oil the Domain Board or Cemetery Trust, and as Mr Bock is clerk qf the Town Board, and is keeping all the books, it is putting him in a false position. The Chairman said that when the applicatians for clerk of the Town Boardaredcaltwith, it will settle the matter finally, as the clerkship of the Town Board will embrace all,
T|io meeting then adjourned until Tuesday npxt,
On Friday night next the balance sheet of the late Ball is to bo submitted, and it is expected to nett £6O. I learn that His Excellency lias been advised to grant the petition for seven members instead of five on the Town Board, and universal satisfaction is oxpressed at the prospect. I hear there is another solicitor jcoming to visit hero twice a week, in the person of Mr C. IV. Tringham, •At the next Court sitting a case is tocomo on again, which caused no small stir at a previous hearing, the two parties being well-known residents.
