Ihe new Government Bill
The new Dairy Industry Bill provides for the establishment of cool stores for dairy produce, and enables provision to be made by Ordcr-iu-Couucil requiring butter or cheese for oxpor| to be placed ill tlic'cool'storc at the port of shipment for the purpose of being graded, and afterwards bciucf frozen or cooled as tlio case may be —in the case qf butter at least six days, and cheese three days; prior to shipment. On the despatch of any butter or cheese tojhc cool store, advice thereof must be immediately posted, addressed to tlio Gbvornmont grader at the store, giving full particulars'of the number of kegs, boxes, or packages, Thp ports of shipment arc to be Auckland, Welling: ton, lyttcljou and Pop Chalmers., "and such ports as may from time.'to |inip bp proclaimed. Thp conlcu|s of'every keg, 1 box, or package coiilainiiig butler of cheese siiajl be graded while in the cool store, and shall bn stamped with 'tho official stamp .or mark. 'For the purpose of (estiiiK the quality of any butter or chepsjv'the I grader may'dponand sample any of tho packages. \ ■ Pure lnilk-.that is, the whole of tho milk of cows, including strippiiigs must be supplied fo a factory or creamery, ! or to the public, unless otherwise utatod,:
Every person supplying milk to a dairy, factory or crcaiuory shall, immediately the milk is.drawn from the cow, havo it cooled or. orated, ■■ Milled butter, which in tho- interpretation- clauso is dofhicdi- asi-piiro; butter ; collected from ono or more dairies or factories for tho purpose of being mixed or blended • and tracked, niust ho 'stamped with' the words " New Zealand milled I butter," before it leaves tlic'.factbry.aiid all'butter ami chceso shall W marked with tho words ".New Zealand daily," "Now Zealand factory," or"NewZcaland creamery." TJio stencil-plate or rubber stamp shall he obtained from the Department of Agriculture, Dioro is a clause as follows ■ relating to the rato of payment. for milk ':— Every owner of : a dairy, faotory,W creamery receiving milk. shall; pay for the samo at per gallon of eleven pounds avoirdupois; but 'nothing herein containcd shnll prevent any dairy, factory, or creamery owner paying for suchmilk according to the productive character (hereof.—N.Z.
