GREYTOWN NOTES.

Monday. About 5.30 last Saturday evening a young Maori man, whilst riding along Main Street, narrowly escaped a serious accident, When opposite the Bank of Now Zealand his horse commenced bucking, resulting in horse and rider falling heavily on to the rough metal. The wonder is how tho young fellow escaped as he did, for the horse in 'rearing fell back upon the ridor, who had no time to extricate himself before the fall, It quite surprised the onlookers to see tho young fellow mount again and ride off apparently none the worse for the mishap. Rain has again set in and tho only fhing wo can do is to content ou\- < selves while it lasts. Tho Brass Band according to promise treated, tho public tp a so? loction of music last Saturday evening, under the conductorship of Mb ill. R, Varnham. A decided im-, provemciifc in tho rendering of tho! various items was noticed, the young musicians doing well, Practice makes perfect should be homo in 1 Blind.
