Another muddle has arisen ovei the odniinistmtion of the Alcoholic Liquor Sales' Act in this district. Under the old Act fees are paid to the Borough Council, and under the new Act tlio license is issued by tho , County Council, Now the Connty Council won't issuo tho licenso unless it receives tho foe, and the Borough wants to stick to the fee, and lias no power to issue the license. This is a pretty dispute ns it stands, and tlio issue of it will bo oxtreniely interesting, But on Saturday next old licenses expire, and if now ones cannot bo obtained licensees will bo placed in a peculiar position. Apparently tho only solution is for the publicans to pay their fees twice over, Once to the Borough which claims the money, and a second time to the County, which nlono has power to issue a license. They can thongo for tho body which has wrongfully taken their nfoncy. What a harvest this promises to be for lawyers, Still, we are sorry for the publicans! It is reported that the Borough will take the bull by tlio horns and issue licenses in spite of tho now Act. This is another complication of the affair which will be joyously welcomed by tho legal fraternity, A publican to bo safe had bettor do as we suggest, pay fees to both claimants, and then start a lawsuit to get his monoy back. This is Colonial , legislation all over.
