Wairarapa Hunt Club.
On Saturday afternoon the Hunt Club held a meet at TiHihercnikau. The weather was not very fine, and a Scotch mist was falling most- of the afternoon. The throw off was from a paddock of MrNix's,going through the properties of Messrs Nix, Henderson, Wilkinson, and Pharazyn. The drag was laid by Waiter Buckeridge on "Kaitapai," which horse wants a bit more schooling. There was only one spill, Mr Boake on " Tomboy," coming a cropper just before coming home. The fences were not very high, and had tlio top rails been a little stronger there would have been a few more spills. Mrs Rhodes, who followed the hounds, was generally foremost in the flights. Amongst- those following were: Mrs Rhodes on " Sims," G. Tull v on '• Delmt," 0. Hamsdeii on "Euchre," H. G'att on " Phyllis," W. Seacombe on "Titus," K. McKenzie on "Mako Malo," E. After the hunt a . meeting of stewards of the Hunt Club was held at the Tauherenikau hotel, Present: Messrs J, Tully (chairman), G. Hirsebberg, H. S. Izard, W. 0. Williams, Buick, C. B, Pharazyn and W. McKcnzie,. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and continued. Mr B. Dawson wrote, informing the Club that special trains should run on the day of their steeplechase, and asked that there be sufficient vehicles for the passengers to get to the course. The following tenders were accepted for tlio privileges:—Featherston Band, £5; E. J. Searl, £B, inside booth, £lO, outside; J. Wickens, £3, refreshment booth; A. Jones, £2los, refreshment booth, inside; A Mason, £1 10s, fruit stall; J. Crawford, £'27 10s, gates; £l2 for cards, and £4 for horse yards, The following resolutions were passed: That a double should be placed where the log fence was last year; That a female attendant should be in attendance at the GrandStand; That four brakes .should be subsidised, and that it should be advertised in the Evening I'ost and one of the Wairarapa papers, that four brakes will run from the station to the course for one shilling per head, The Stewards wore teld off for their respective duties. The following gentlemen wel'e admitted as members of the Hunt Club:—Messrs P. Pearce, F, D, Johnston (Martinborough), E. Usher (Martinborough), F, Olson, F. Webb. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the nlceting. •
