UNITED HUNT CLUB.

The Timothy Vase. At a meeting of the stewards of the United Hunt Club Races, held 1 at the Royal Oak Hotel on Thursday night there was considerable discussion in regard to a request of the Wellington Racing Club that they should make further enquiry into the running of the horse Timothy (by Early Bird) in the Steoplccliaso at their last meeting, and in which his rider was alleged to have weighed in -libs underweight! After consideration the following resolutions were proposed and duly passed:

1. That tho Wellington Racing Club be informed that tho stewards of the United Hunt Club, when considering the conduct of tlio rider of Timothy in the Open Steeplechase, were not aware that the horso had weighed in light after the race.

2. That the Stewards were doubtful whether under the Rules of Racing they were entitled ,to hold an enquiry into (a) the riding of the I horse, or tho conduct of tlio owner, trainer, or jockey, tlio stewards haying already como to a conclusion upon tho matter, and their decision being final according to the rules; or ! (b)into any malpractice at tlio scales, 'and into the conduct of tho jockey during the race as showing whether the fail aro to draw tlio required weight was accidental or intentional. 3, That the stewards are desirous that if they have powertohold either or both of the said enquiries to refer' such enquiries to tho stewards of the Wellington Racing Club, and 'desire them to hold tho same; and that the stewards do hereby request the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club to hold Biich enquiries, if they; think they have power to do so, .4. That if tho stowards of the Wellington Racing Clnb hold that the Hunt Club stewards have power to hold sifch enquiries, and desiro thenv to hold the same, the secretary be authorised to give a date for such enquiry, and summons witnesses.'—
