■ ' Atmem', .Friday. ' ' ' The coremony' of oponing' th« bridge over the Tiraumea River at tho Napier crossing: was porformed yesterday afternoon in tho presence of a largo number of settle™. Amongst the visitors, was Sir P. A, : Buckley, who attonded on behalf of tho Government.' ' Mrs W. J; Saun-dei-s, at the request of Mr Hogg, M.H.R., christened the bridge, " Tiraumca No 1" in champagne, amid loud cheering, and a scene of, great enthusiasm. " ' ' '' Tho County Engineer, and the contractor (Mr Dawson) were highly complimented on having constructed ono of tho finest wooden bridges in New Zealand,,
In the ovening thero was a banquet in the public. hall, at which over eighty settlers were .present.
