MASTERTON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE
Annual Ball,
The ninth animal bull of the above Brigade was held in the Drill Hall, last evening and although not patronised in such a manner as the Brigade dcscrvcd.proved a very sociabloaiulenjoyablegatheriiig. Theiuterior of the Hall wis beautifully decorated, the Hags, pictures, and evergreens making a very pretty scene. Theiloor was in excellent order, and the music, provided bj Messrs George Grey (cornet), and George Barlow (piano) was perfect and the • whole surroundings left 'nothing to be desired. Messrs Gindcrs, Mandel, and Broom officiated as M.C.'s and a long programme of dances was kept up with spirit till the small hours of the morning. The refreshments, provided by the ladies of the town, were abundant, and choice, and tho Brigadesmcn who acted as a working-committee worked hard to make the affair a success, and they certainly deserved far better support from the townspeople. Mr C. H. Payne, the Secretary looked after everything in his usual able manner, and the affair passed off very well.
