FEATHERSTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent), Friday, Two lads named Henry Carpenter and Henry Stanton are to bebrought up this morning on a charge of larceny of $5 from a tent down Kanhautara. A child nearly two years old was badly scalded last Wednesday. Its mother, Mrs Pointon, had put down a pot of boiling water when the little one stumbled into it, both arms being badly scalded, Mr Fife had to be called in to dress tho arms. A new drag of Mr E, J, Scar] was starting for Akiira yesterday, and had not gone far when one' of the horses which was rathor fresh, managed lo put one of its legs over the pole snapping tho polo off short, necessitating the drag being dragged back and the horses led to the stables.
Un Wednesday evening a quilt was stolen off the line at tho back of Mr Pauling's harboring establishment, It was there wlion Mr Pauling retired, and was well pegged on to the line, so it could not bo put down to the wind, especially as wo have had no wind for the past three days. Thore has not been so many unemployed about- Martiuborough and Featherston for the past 15 years and yet a correspondent in the Post says that - the Lower Wairarapa townships arc comparatively free from unemployed.
