CONCERT AT GREYTOWN.

Friday, A largely attended concert in aid of the Groytmvn Brass Band was held in the Palace Hall last evening, |Shortly after seven o'clock, the band and fire brigade marched in torch light procession through the town to the hall. Punctually to the time announced, the curtain was drawn, anil His Worship tlio Mayor, Mr J, G-. Heagerty, made a few oponing remarks, and spoke in eulogistic terms of the band. The programme was gone through in a manner very creditable to the performers. It was an understood thing that no encores would be allowed, owing to the large number of items, but the applnuso of iho audience, after every rendering, showed its appreciation of the efforts of the performers. Messrs James Butcher and McKenzie, Misses H. Seagravc and Udy, and Mr H. J. McLean .efficiently officiated as accompanists. Misß L, Jaojaon; Violin Solo"; Misß McKenzio; song: Call or Herrin', Mrs Shearer; Duet; In tho Dusk of the Twilight, Misses Gallagher j Violin Solo ;_Hopo Told a Flattering Tale (Farmer), Professor Deelyj Comic Sketch: Ball in Darktowu. i The last item, which lasted for about half an hour, kept tho house in roars of laughter throughout., The music was supplied by the Darktown Baud, The scene at the end was great confusion, the ballroom catching fire, Tho Darktowu Fire Brigade were promptly in attendance, and succeeded, after half drawing tho characters,-in subduing the flames, A held in conclusion, but was very poorly attended.
