Featherston Notes.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Monday. A meeting of stewards of W.R.O. was held at the Empire Hotel, on Saturday night. Tbo treasurer re* ported a balance of £74 lis lid, accounts amounting to £l4 were passed for payment. A deputation from the Hunt Club, coDßißting of Messrs G. Tully, W. MoKenzie, and A. Toogood waited on the meeting and requested that they might be allowed to run their Steeplechase on the Tauherenikau course on July sth, as many owners of hones could not get their korsea ready before then. It was resolved to grant them permission and the ohargo to be £ls, the Hunt Club to make good all damage to the course and fences, and it was farther resolved that thestewards recommend their reqrat to the trustees, The matter "of repairing the corrugated' iron fence on the oourse which was MCentlyJjlpvm jownjor aboutklUchain, was left in theliamfs of the Course Committee. It was resolved to hold a meeting of stewards at the steward's room on the course, on Saturday next,at 2 p.m. and to request Mr K. McKenzia, to be present to explain his conduct re damage to the club's property at the course. The usual rote of thanks to the ohairj terminated the meeting.

A respectably dressed man, the 1 worse for liquor, was seen in Revons street on Saturday morning, making a great noise and committing a breach ,of the Police Offences Act. Luokily for him the police were not about.

The usual monthly meeting of the River Board lapsed for want of a quorum last Saturday, only Messrs Matthews and J, Bidwill being present.

The site of tbe future Courthouse, whioh is very near to the old one, is being oleared, so 1 hope soon to bo able to announce tbe starling of our new Courthouse.

A very heavy gale raged on Saturday night, and mar.y arose on Sunday morning expecting to see the frame of the Town Hall in anything but tbe same position as when lust seen on Saturday evening, but it stood tho gale and nothing was out of place.
