The annual soiree of the Dreyerton branch of the Muntorton Presbyterian Church was held at Divyerton last night, when in spite of the Very stormy weather that prevailed there, the attendancein the church was large The Rev, Robert Wood presided. After a liberal service of tea and cake the public meeting was held.

Mr Puikinsou, bee, of tho Church Committee,read an interesting report in which it was stated ihat ilie year had been ono of steady progress loth as regards attendance at service and the financial condition of the church. The iuoiinit' had largely incieased and tho Commit'ee had been aide to re duce the debt 011 church bv £5, and had, a credit balance of £7 IGj 4d. The favourable condition of things had been brought about hy the clmugo from lorinightly to weekly services and by tho improvement in the service of praise, Tlie singing practises presided over by Miss Cameron had been of great benefit 10 the ckuroh and district. The Committee recorded iis sinccro gratitude 10 the office bearers of Ma-.terton Church who had sup plied the pulpit when the Minister was engaged alaewherc, and to Miss Cameron who had prcfcjded at the organ with excellent results.

Tho Chairman oppressed gratification at the very satisfactory reports that bad been laid before tliem and the reports were then adopted by the meeting on the motion of Mr Robert Cameron. The Masterton Preebyferian Choir under the leadership of Mr Win, Siamis sang duiiug the evening with excellent effect several anthems and gleen, Mr Wm. Sirrma Bang " Nazareth" as a solo and was enthusiasticnliy encored. Mr J. Simtns sang "Ho Wipes the Tear" with fine taslo and expression. Miss Johnston Kpcg •' Ora pro Nobis" which was also warmly received as was also Mr 11. Leo's solo "Calvary", Mr Davis was heartily applauded for his recitation "The Story of a London Waif, The meeting was brought to a close by Mr Parkinson moving a Jiparty vote of thunkb to the choir, and by Mr A.
