GREYTOWN NOTES.

The Greytown lire Brigade is arduously practising for the forth coming match with Napier, ind some of their time records are very good.
The thunderstorm which passed over the Valley yesterday afternoon was severely felt at Greytown, and the rain fell in sheets. A peculiarity about the rain, however, was that while it was so heavy in some places, scarcely a drop fell in others. Thus on the main road in fell in buoketsful, while down at Kuratawhiti—not a quarter of a mile away—there was scarcely enough to lay the dust,
St, Lukejs (Greytown) Sunday School-sfpo was held yesterday in Mr Hare's paddock before the rain came, and afterwards in the Foresters' Hall. The attendance of children was not large, but the Bev. A. V. and Mrs Grace, and Mr Flux, and tho Misses Baeon and Kempton made those who were there very happy with games, cakes and sweets, and all tbe nsualjoye of such affairs.
Greytown is going to be tho model town of the Wairarapa. Its residents intend assisting the local constable in all possible ways to put down mischevious and annoying larrikinism. If the respectable portion of the community do tbat,'aud a few examples are made, larrikinism will die a natural death, No one objeots to fun, but the steady going have awoke to the tact that they must, in order to lire in peace, oheok mischief, and also that it ffni' tboir own hands to do it.
