Ordinary Meeting.

The usual monthly meeting of the Fentherston lioad Board was held on Saturday, there being present:— Messrs Matthews (chairnianj,'. Bid- ! will, Evans, Hume, Nix, Harris, jMtieod and Donald. Harrison asking if he could not claim a fence in preferonce to the gate.-- Mr Harrison waited on the Board and explained that it was a difficult matter to drive stock eling an unfnnced road. The Board decided to grant Mr Jackson's permission to erect tho gate. From W. Elgar, complaining that on the road from Waipawa stockyards to Pine Bush comer tho culverts and road were disappearing.—Tho overkeor did not think it quite bo bad, but he did not consider the road of any practical use, as the carters preferred to use the bed of the Awhea creek,— This matter was left in the bauds of the warden,

From Mr Wrattan, asking that some culverts be placed on the road lo his place, and offering to cart the necessary timber, and to construct the culverts at his own expense,—Mr Wrattan's request was granted From J. Hodge and several settlers in the Morrison Bush district, complaining that a great deal of properly was being drained into the road di pins, which wero not large enough, and tlioir properties were being damaged in con-sequence.-Tho Board objected to being looked upon as a drainage Board, and resolved that the present drains me sufficient, and that tho Board cannot spend any more in that qunrtor. The following tenders were aocoptctl:—Bridge at Kahautara. W. Boyd, £B9; metalling at White Rock, E. Kelly, 17s por chain; fenoing at Harrison's, J, Phelps, 14a pur chain; Wall's Road, Wall and Phillis, £2 5s per chain; bridge at Bell Camp, W. Boyd, £25; bridle truck at Clny Creek, Burgess, 16s per chain; metalling at Te Mnire, ?. N. Boband, 18a per chain and 10s for each culvert. The Chairman moved a vote of thanks to Mr Martin, late.member of the Board, for his efforts in regard to the adjustment of the MaryboroughPabaoa road account.

It was resolved that Mr Kennedy and others bo allowed to raise a loan of £BOO for metalling. Iho Overseer's report was read. The report suggested that the platform bridge bo removed with the exception of one span, tho remaining span to be lowered.—lt was resolved to call tenders for the suggested alteration. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bidwill, that the strengthening of Pethrick's bridge be charged to the bridge accounts. Mr Martin wrote asking that £SO be expended on the Pahauroad,— Mr Nix objected and tho matter was held over. Kosolved, on the notice oi motion of Mr Bidwill, that theapplication.be called for the post of ranger at £4O per aunum, the boundary to remain the same as formerly. Mr Hume gave notice of motion that th'o Boundary in his ward be extended to Tanner'B cutiinj?. Kesolved, on the motion of Mr Bidwill, that Mr Thompson be asked to survey certain roads in Moroa,and I that the settlers who contributed to tho special loan be allowed to drain tboir properly into the road drains. Resolved, on tho motion of Mr Hume, thatMr Sinclair be paid £5 compensation for metal removed from his property. Resolved, on the motion ef Mr Bidwill, that a special order be made that the rate of the Kahautoru. Pukeho special rating district be 3-fifthß of a penny,. Kesolved, on the motion of Mr Hume, that the special rate in, this distfiot be collected, • Bequiremonts of Warden: -(No 1). Mr Nix asked for 60 chains of metalling on the Motoatoad. (No 2). Mr Donald wished that some holes in Yule's line be attended to, (No 3), MrMatthewa drew attention ; to the
