Parishioners' Meetinq. Tho annual moeling of the parishionoiSof.St. Matthew's Anglican Church, was held last evening, Owing no doubt to several other meetings inking place at the same time, the attendance was limited, several ladies, however, were present, The Rev W, E. Paige presided, Tho miuutos of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. In moving tho adoption of the lialanco sheet, Mr Paige said the Parish was to be congratulated on the satisfactory state of the balance Bheet, as, compared with tho previous year, tho receipts had considerably increased, The choir had progressed satisfactorily and considering the untrained voices of the boys, the work done by them hud been very creditable and had supplied a want in tho services that otherwise would have been severely (elt. Ho hoped that at a meeting to be held to-morrow (Tuesday) evening several ladies and gentlemen would arrange to form a ohoir which would greatly improve the choral part of the service. Ho regretted to havo to remark ikt [ho help givon in the past (except from the ladies) had not been very encouraging, For some time he had seen the necessity of doing something for the youths of tho town, ovor fourteen years . of age, for they appeared to hive nowhere to go in the evenings. 'He hoped that in a fow days ho would he in a position to lay before them a plan which he considered would eventually lead to the establishment ot a gymnasium. His thanks wen especially duo to the teachers whe assisted in tho Sunday School, seeinj that his country work prevented bin giving that attention totheSchoo which could be given by town clergymen. Ho desired especially to thank the ladies of the parish for the interest taken by them in the work of fhi Church, and he regretted that tht Synod in its wisdom bad not allowec thorn tho right of voting at parisl meeting*, Thero was no doubt in hit mind that it was duo to them that- al matters had been kept so well to gethcr. The greatest credit was dui to their energetic Secretary, Mr W 13, Chonnolls, for the way in whicl he had managed the finances of thi parish. He also wished to hcartil; thank Mr W, H. Jackson for hi services as lay reader. Mr Natuscii said he did not taki such a happy view of the balanci sheet as their rector, for looking a tho increase of tho population of th town, ho did not think the state of th parish could be considered particular!; healthy. Mr Brewner took a similar view and thought it was a healthy sigi that some criticism should bo mad on the balance sheet. In reply to Mr Natusch, Mr Paig> said that the choir was not a vestr iratter and had not been included ii tho balance sheet, Mrs Paige am the ladies of the parish had provide!

the fund for the choir. He found it i was necessary to pay the hoys to get i them to attend regularly, but the parish bad not yet been asked—as ft I parish—to pay forthe cboii'sservices, ! and at the present time thero was a i crodit balance to this account, ol thirteen pounds, i Tho motion for the adoption of thoj 1 balance sheet was then put and car-, : ried. i Tho bilauce sheets of the Sunday School and Choir wore also adopted.
