Monthly Meeting. Tho monthly mcctint! of tho nbovo 1 was hold last night. Present—Messrs K Veiat (Chairman), W. M, Easthupo, C.E. Daniell, W.Pragnell.W.Morru, T. Wogg and W. G. Beard. An apology was received from Mr .1.11. Graham. The minutos of tho piovtous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reportoit a debit balance of £5 Gs 'id. Correspondence was received from tho Education Board, stating that it could notnccedoto tho request of the Committee asking it to bear the expense of planting trees, as tho Board web short of funds, A circular was read from the Dopnrtof Agriculture ro Arbor Day, and alter discussion it was resolved that a subcommittee bo appointed consisting of Messrs Beard, Easthopo and Feist, to arrange for planting trees and shrubs at the School. The Secretary was instructed to ascertain ifany shrubs would bo available from the Botanical Gardens, Wollingtim. Mr Beard signified his intention of giving some shrubs, and tho Committee hoped oilier residents would assist in a similar manner. A circular was read from tho Education Board inquiring whether the School Buildings were being used beforo or after School hours by Clergymen for giving roli»ious instructions,— Tho Secretary was instructed to reply that tho Schools wero not at present boing used for tho purpose The Town Lands Trustees wrote notifjint; tho cninmitteo that tho application for £SO has been granted. The head master, Mr Jackson, reported that tho Main School opened after midwinter holidays with a fair complnincut of scholars; there did not appear to bo any scare on accouut of measles I Miss Keeling also reported a fair attend- , anco at the opening.
