Resignation of Members.

The following letter has been handei to the Times for publication ; Wellington, June 2,1893. To the Secretary of the ; United Distriot Charitable Aid Board.

Sin,—The enquiry which took place yesterday before the Board of Commissioners on the question as to whether,the United District Charitable Aid Board Were'juatified in refusing to grant to the Benevolent Society so 1 largo a aum as £5750 for charitable aid for the present year,'has clearly shown the following facts;— '

1. That the Onited District Charitable Aid Board has no real control over the expenditure, and that the statutory powers conferred upon it by Parliament in that respect are absolutely inoperative. 2.
