MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.

Ordiwy meeting. The ordinary meeting of the Mauriceville Road Board was held on Saturday tho 25tb inst, Present, Messrs 0. Foraberg (Ohairmon) J. Bannister, J, F. Heckler, and 0, Ttiit, The minutes of tho previous meetng were read and confirmed, and correspondence outward. A. communication was received from the Ulerk of the Wairarapa North County Council, with reference to tho proposed annexation of sections at present in the Alfredton and Upper Taucru Koad Districts, The alteritfAHi or' iotrfflibfiW involves tho dissolution of the Board and a new election which cannot be taken concurrently with the ordinary elections in May, as at least three monthß must, elapse before the annexation can be completed. The following tenders were recoivod for work on Mount Bruce Rond:— Contract A.—McGill and Co, £309 (accepted conditionally) Larsen and Co,, £325, Sheehyn and McGrath £338 10a Od, Halberg and Peterson £BSO, 0, Isaokson £3BO, J, Cummings £854. Contract C.—Morgan and Williams £290 (accepted), Sbeehyn and McGrath, £356 Ms Od, 0, Isalisen £B6O. Contract D.—o. isaksen £285 (accepted) Sheehyn and McGrath £24212s Od, P. Madsen £287. No tenders were accepted for Contract B, and it t?hb decided to hold this contract over till tho dry season, when tho work can be more economically done. The only tender received for carting metal on the North and South Mauriceville Roads was that of L. Larsen (accepted) at 2s per yard for 1 mile, and 8s per yard for 2 miles, Considerable discussion took place respecting the alteration in the boundary of the district, It was thought advisable to wait till it bo seen whether tho Eketahuna Board will allow those settlers in the ilangamahoe Boad, whose outlet is in the Mauriceville Koad, to havo their properties transferred to the Mauriceville District. Cheques amounting to £9B 4s 7d were passed for payment, Rates collected since last meeting £46 7b Bd,
