WRECK ON THE COAST.
[By Tologi'rtj)h. —Preaa Association.] New Plymouth, Wodncsday, Information was received from Waitara last night that two lifebuoys painted white, with the name" Gowanbourne, Greenock," and also a figurehead shaped like a harp have | b -en washed ashore. Pieces of cabin fittings and other wreckage also came aflhoro. It is supposed the wreckage must como from the North Capo, but it is impossible to tell, as the recent heavy galea might have brought it from a much greater distance. The steamer Waitara has been sent to seo if any signs ot wreckage can bo found along the coast, .Wellington Wednesday. In connection with the New Plymouth {telegram, relating to tho wreckage washed ashore at Waitara, it is mentioned that a four masted barque, named " Gowanburn" <o[f 1999 tons, Captain, Gorlidt left Newcastle lor Han ' Francisco on the 15tb ult., with 1971 tons of coal. Sho was • built in Greenock, in 188(>, and was owued by Shandland and Co., Greenock.
