Oriental Club. A meeting of the Oriental Football Club was hold in Messrs White and Co'b rooms last evening, twenty-eight members being present. The officers for the onsniug year were elected us follows:- Captain, R. Jactaon , Vice Captain, J, Wickons; Secretary and Treasurer, W. Johnston ; Match Committee, A. Bennett, J. Fleming, and C. Webb. Tho colours of (ho dub will be amber and black, and the subscription was lixwl at 2s Gil. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Wairarapa Rugby Union in reference to a Third Class Championship, and urge upon them tho necessity of providing ut cup for competition between the junior clubs of (he district. Tho season will be opened on Thursday afternoon, whon a scratch match will be played ou die Masterton Ground, and a team will afterWards bo chosen to play tho Royal Stars at Carterton on St. Patrick's Day, A meeting is shortly be called to form a Tradesmen's Football Club in Mastcrton, the membership to be strictly limited to shop-assistants and employers only, TheEpuni Football Club will me tho Hutt racecourse, as their playing ground this year, Tho Otngo Witness says: It is bolioved that insidnous attempts are king made to influence clubs to instruct their Rugby Union delegates to support a proposal for affiliation with the New Zealand Rugby Union, II will be seen elsewhere that tho Merivalo Club rejected a motion to so instruct their delegates to tho Canterbury Union, ami it is to be hoped that other clubs will stick as firmly to their colours on this subject, as tho Merivale hove done, It behoves Ombs about to hold their annual meetings, to see that their delegates are ol the" right color" on this point.
