TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting, The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Presont: Messrs H. R, Bunny (chairman), ID, W. Dorsett, J, Rayner, E, Morgan, H. Braithwaite, , W, Miller, and W.B. Allen,

Tbe minutes of the previous mooting were read and confirmed, The Treasurer-reported an ovordraft of £685 6s 3d. A 'general statement of each Ward's liabilities were also read. Outstanding rates amount to £929 9a lOd. Mr Braithwaite moved that the Collector givo final notice that all rates not paid after the lapse of fourteen days be sued for without.any further notice. Mr Eayner seconded and the motion was carried, Mr McGuinness asked that his deposit bo returned? on account of a mistake mado by him in bis calculation as to work to .ho done, Tuo request was not entertained. The considerations of road between Messrs Jas. Corpe and L. Nix was deferred till next meeting, It was resolved that MrUdy bo written to about depositing timber on tbe road, and informing him that be makes himself liable for damages.

It was moved by Mr Morgan, and seconded'by Mr Eayner, that.tbe report of tbe committee appointed to examine the culverts on the Belvedere road be taken in Committee,' Mr Savers, one of the deputation, waiting on the Board in reference to tbe matter, stated' that there were several culverts whicli ought to he opened, so that each settler should have bis -fair: sharo of tbo wator flowing fr6nj the bills,

Messrs Aplin, Mundy, Hughin and Angove also spoke on the matter. .

Mr Jos, Ontea waited on the Board in reference to the road to his nlaco, In referonco to tho Belvedere road [ qucstion,tbo Committee recommended that nil existing culverts be opened and repaired.

Mr Angove's petition that -an existing culvort be blocked up was not entertained, It was resolved, od~ tho motion of tlio Chairman, that a road for Mr Joseph Oatcs bo taken through Mr Blatchford's, and that the land bo taken under tho "Public Works Act."

A motion was carried, declaring a certain area a special rating district, on the East Coast Road, to meet tho payment of tho loan obtained for making tho road. Accounts amounting to about £BOO were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned,
