THE ALLEGED MURDER AT WAIKOMITI.
Strychnine Found. (By Telegraph—Press Association), Auckund, November 24. The inquest on the body of Thompson, the Waikomiti settler, with whoso murder Alex. Scott is charged, waßrcßumed to-day. Mr J. A.Pond, analyst, deposed that he had examined the contents of the stomach and intestines. A phial containing crystals found by Dr Robertson on a chair hy the side oi deceased gave a reaction of strychnine. There were traces of strychnine also in the atomach, kidney, liver and spleen, LHER. Mr Pond, continuing his evidence, tiaid that the large quantity of strychnine found was from the walls of the stomach. He estimated that the total amount recovered was one and a half to two grains of Btrychuine, The phial found in Thompson's room contained small pyramidiool crystals of strychnine, From the portions of the body given to hi<n, he had not isolated sufficient poison to account for death, but judging from the result of hie analysis lie considered that if lie had received more of the body he would have recovered sufficient to account for the cause of death. Dra. Koberton, Haines, and Lunes gave expert evidence that the symptoms described were in accordance with the supposition that death resulted from poisoning by strychnine. Dr Koberton considered that from the symptoms described and the analysis, death most probably resulted from poisoning by strychnine. The enquiry is to be resumed to-morrow, and will probably be concluded,
