TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting oE the aboyo Board was' held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs H. R. Bunny (Chairman), E. Morgan, H. Braithwaite, J. Baynsr, Wm Miller and James Stevens. The minutes of the previous meet* ing were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported the Bank overdraft to be £58117s 9d, A deputation with reference to the vexed question of drainage at' Belvedere, waited on the Board, and •was informed that Messrs Allen, <4fiorset and Stevens were appointed a to inspect the locality and report at the next meoting, Mr L, Nix applied for an outlet to bo made from his property on to the Woodlands Road, Beaolved that Messrs Broithwaito and Dorset fin company with the applicant) wait on Mr Joseph Corpe to make arrangements about the matter. Mr Peterson applied to be allowed to erect a gate on the Hinau Gully road. The application was granted on the usual conditions. Mr Peterson also made some complaints about tho ranger. Mr Morgan promised to see the ranger and adjust the matter. Messrs Knapp Bros asked permia sion to out grass on Messrs Joseph and Phillips' line. Permission was granted. Outward correspondence from lot" ter book was read and approved. Tenders for forming etc., twenty chains of road through Messrs Braitb> waite and Acock's property were
opened as follow :—P. Mulcahy, £2 jk per chain, Sunky and Connell £2 ' per chain, F. MacGuin.ness 17s 6d per chain (accepted). It was resolved that several settlers on the Taratahi be notified to clear the gorse and broom adjoining their properties and that Mr Monaghan be notified to repair the main road from the boundary of the Borough to the Waiohine bridge. Mr Millar moved and Mr Morgan seconded that the resolution to pay Mr Blatchford £5 per year, to allow Mr Joseph Oates ingress and egress be rescinded. After some controversy the motion was carried, and Mr Millar and tho Chairman were deputed to ■make Borne arrangement to get a road for Mr Joseph Oatos, Accounts were passed for payment aud the meeting adjourned.
