Oriental Cricket Club has received «challengo from the Eketahuna Club to play a match at tho latter place on -the Prince of Wales' Birthday. Owing to the Orientals not having sufficient practice, tho offer was declined. The W.F.C.A. Cricket Club will commence the season on Wednesday afternoon next, when a pi actice match will bo held on tho Park Oval, The Excelsior Cricket Club are arranging a concert for the 2Cth inst., in aid of funds for the Club, and tickets aro going off rapidly, < The Oriental Club have a subscription list on tho warpath, and enthusiasts in criekot have an opportunity of assisting a new Club. Several pounds have already beon collected. It is a great pity the old vetrans about Maeterton do not take more interest in the game, A challenge Jfcas accepted lrom the second eleven %ttfo Wellington Midland Club to play a scratch team in Masterton, but the arrangement has been allowed to collapse, through the luke-warmness of some of thoso choseu to play for Masterton. H, Edser, who was one of the best players in Canterbury a few years ago, had decided to play again, and and he will make a start next Saturday with the Midlands (Wellington).
