ELECTORAL DILI, This Bill was read a third time in the Legislative Council yesterday afternoon, after the Hon, Dr Pollen had defended the attaobing of electoral rightWo the woman's franchise pritwpfe, denying'lhat there was any intention to kill the Bill by voting for a subdivision of tho oity electorates, LAND SILL. Thiß Bill was taken in committee, In tho interpretation of residence ' substantial'was altered to ' habit-able.'-The Colonial Secretary called for a division on the amendment maktbe width of streets outsido a borough 66feet, instead of 'main streets, 89 feet,'—The amendment was affirmed by 10 to 6,—The new clauses resorting % original position in regard to tho Actions of land boards were agreed to? The committee's amendment was passed on division, relieving an original lessee or licensee from responsibility after a transfer had been approved of, The clause relating to the disqualification of married men as selectors, was struck out by 8 to 6, as was also the clause relating to the limitation of land orders,—Clause si, land to be acquired for sole use and benefit of applicant, was retained by 9 to 6. An amendment by Mr Ormond to allow a man to take up a thousand acres each for three children under 17, was •cwied l>y 7 to 6,-CJaßuo 188, yearly
limit of cash sales, was by 11 to amended by limiting llio nroa 250,000 acres instead of making tl value £lso,ooo.—The olauso provi ing for a block of 5000 acres beit set aside to be worked on 00-operalii principles was struck out. —Prog-o . was reported on reaching section 17 dealing with compulsory residence. t Postal. Sir Robert Stout, asked by th special correspondent of the N.2 , Times, what ho thought of the int«i ■ view between the Governor and Hi t special correspondent of the Otngi i Daily Times, said :.
