EKETAHUNA.

N/b- Club Sail.

Notwithstanding the fact that very heavy rain fell all day yesterday, the attendance at the Ebtabuna Rifle Club's Annual Ball, held hat evening was larger than expected, and quite a number braved the storm and came from a lobg distance, sooner than miss the delights'of this important social gathering, Had the weather been fine the hall would not have been large enough to accommodate the number who had signified their intention of being present; The Masterton Rifle Volunteers were well represented, Captain 0. A, Pownall, Lieutenants J, B, Hooper and R. J, Malcolm, and other members of the corps befog present. The hall was tastefully L.Jecorated with flags and evergreens, and the floor was in splendid condition. Mr A. Foden presided at the pianp and played through the whole of the somewhat lengthy'programme in his very best style. The refreshments (provided by (he ladies of tlie district) were simply beyond description and iu.never ending quantities. The party broke ijp about i a.m, everyone pres? ent admitting the gathering to baye been (he "very best ever Ijeldjn Eketahuna," Messrs P. Bright and F. D, Polling acted as M.C.'s and carried out their duties well, while the indefatigable Secretary (Mr Wi A, Bowse) worked like a trojan to see that all went well.
