Pahiatua, June 6.
The weather here lately can be summed up in two words—frost and rain. The frosts have been unusually Severe this year,
I hear that the writ in the libel action, Clark v Naylor, i 3 oui , and lias been served. The case will come on at the next sitting of the Masterton Distriot Court, and will be watched with unusual interest here. If the plaintiff Bucceeds in establishing his case it is his intention to proceed against tho Woodville Examiner in the same matter,
We were paid a visit by Mr G, H. Snazelle on Saturday, and he gave a performance in the Publio Hall in the evening. It is almost needless to say that Mr Snazelle fully sustained the brilliant reputation which had preceded him. The audience was enthusiastic, and showed its appreciation of the high class entertainment provided, The rendering of tho "Village Blacksmith," which was beautifully illustrated, was particularly pleasing, Mr Herbert Chester, dairy produce merchant, of Wellington, and a representative of several English firms of the same nature, has now fairly concluded his arrangements to build a factory here, The factory itself will be built at Mangatainoka with creameries at'Ballance, Makakabi and Kaitawa. His advent here is hailed with pleasure by all the small settlers, tiß tlioy will now find a ready local market for their produce, the want of which has previously hindered them considerably. Indeed it is not only the small settlers who recognise the industry us a decided benefit to the district, as' Mr George Avery intends sending the milk of his 50 cows to the factory,
