. A " Sporting Man" writes us i&* gardiog the handicaps at (be Akura Maori Baoe Meeting as follows i Sib.: —Will you kjndly allow nie'/afew remarks regarding the handicapping at the Akura Baoea held on the Qpaki Racecourse on Thursday last, If our worthy handicapper continues his little game.'raoing will soon fall through. | The two races 1 will just draw attention to are the Maiden and the | Consolation. A more soandalous piece of work could not easily be performed. For instance, Jenny Lind, a mare that has no less than three' seconds,' two at Otaki last week and one at Tauherenika'u, got in with Bst 7lb, and Pride of Kildare with 7st 71b, whilst First Blood, a maiden horse who had started but twice before, had to oarry Ost 71b, and Butoher 9st 71b. This without saying anything of the let-off given the Native in; the Consolation, when Kaitata got in with. Bst agaiust First Blood's Bst 71b; Kaitaraisa horse that has already made a stand for himself, having won the Member's Race at. our last meeting. If the haedioapper calls this handicapping, well we Rill give him another salute, but a different sort to the one he got on leaving the course. I am not at all inteieated in the affair myself, but I must say that it is time there was an improvement in the handicapping in the Wairarapj.. Hoping that I am not encroabhiug too far on your valu» able space.
