-Auckland, May 30.' Mr McKerrow remains here a week. Io an interview he eaid the steady policy of the Railway Commissioners would encourage the productive resources of the country, The railway traffic was steadily improving throughout the colony. The revenue was increasing gradually but steadily. The defeotive harvest a year ago in ibe Sontli caused a large shrinkage of the amount of, grain oariied, which affected the receipts materially last year, but all thu other departments! especially the passenger traffic, were increasing" very markedly lor the current year. 'Mr McKerrowsays'the grain traffic will assume-its former dimensions.at least trie Commissioners anticipate a very good year. The passenger traffic lust year was the larguat ever recorded in the colony. These results Mr M oKerrow attributes to the; general ■ feeling of .'returned prosperity throughout bhe colony and chiefly in.the country districts,
