at the Bank of £156, and uncolleetod ; wte«'£s 6s'Bd. : '' ' " Mr Braitbwaita" was : anthorised to employ Mr Monoghan one day with a lioreo and car', to fill in the approach from the mam road to Wai«, hakeko.
.Mr Strawbridge was authorised- to erect a gate on an unused road hading from his place towards Greytown.
Mr Roger Renall requested that about 26 chains of fencing bo done thrrugh his property. Messrs H. R. Bunny,W. Miller,andE. W.Dorset were appointed to see Mr Benall on the matter. The Colonial Treasurer wrote, approving of the proposed loan for £BOOO for making a dray road from Wainuiom to the Coast. Messrs H, R. Bunny and W, Miller were appointed to lay off the district for the purpose of forming it into a rating district to meet tho required loan,
A great deal of correspondence was read from Messrs Tutliam, Hales and others re a road to Kaiwhata. It was resolved that tho North County Council be informed that ow-* ing to tho opposition received from settlers in that district to the proposed road, no action can bo taken in the matter at present.
Mr T. Ray's offer of £5 for a worked out gravel pit was accepted. : Mr Blatohford's offer for making and hanging three gates at 35s each, wasaccepted, .
Tenders for fencing 88 chains of road at Kokatau were received, Messrs Conradsen and Hemck's being accepted at 12s Gd per chain, For metal-, ling 80 cliains on Chester road the tender of H. R, Burgess was accepted at 29s per chain-
Some accounts were passed for payment. A petition from Bottlers on Anderson's line was received; asking that some repairs be effected before the weather got teo wet,
This was left in the hands of th Warden. Messrs Braithwaite and Dorset were appointed to sign cheques on behalf: of the Board.
This closed the business and the meeting adjourned.
ANNUAL MEETING,
At the annual meeting, Mr Rayner asked how it was that No. 1 Ward had got so much in debt during the past year. The matter waa aatisfao* torily explained by the Clerk.
The balance sheet was submitted and approved.
MEETING OF BATEPAYERB,
The annual meeting of ratepayers was afterwards held, when the Clerk read the balance sheet for their infortion. The Chairman thought that theratO" payers might be congratulated on the position of the Board. In answer to Mr Miller it was stated that last year's rates in No. 8 Ward amounted to a little over £6.
Upper Taueru Road . Board.
The ordinary meeting was held on May 7, 1892, Present Messrs Coekburn-Bood, Macßae, Miller and Perry. Mr CockburnsHood was elected Chairman, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, Correspondence. Prom Mr J. Butkerfurd, requesting loave of absence owing to illness,
From the Commissioner of Taxes, re statement of land values for the three years commencing let April, 1892.
From Mr E, Wilton, applying for a right of way through Mr Perry's property to his section, From Mr Butherfurd, ashing for the cervices of the roadman to put his track in order.
From Mr E. Price, applying to have a bridle track formed down the Mungerai road line, to enable him to get on his section, Resolved, That Mr Perry consult with Mr Perry, senr., as to the right of way through his property, and report at the next meeting,
■ Tbafc the roadman shall attend to Mr Eutberfurd's track for two or three days, and while he is in the neighborhood 30 down the Mungerai road line and see how long it will take to form the ttaok wanted by Messrs McKay, Wakelin and Price, and to report at the next meeting, That an assistant for the roadman be obtained for the month.
That tbe roadman shall put Mr Miller's track in repair after he has been to Mr Rutberfurd's, and then proceed with the Mungerai track leading to Mr McGovern's,
That the clerk be instructed to give all defaulting ratepayers fourteen days notice to pay their rates, and if not paid by that time to issue summonses for tbe recovery of the same forthwith, That accounts amounting to .£ls 18s id be passed for payment.
That the next meeting of the Board be held on the first Saturday inJune,
MEETINGOFRATEPAYERS.
At tbe annua! meeting of ratepayers held on May 7th, the accounts were presented shewing balances for the year ended 81st March, 1892, as fol. lows:—General n/c debit, £ll2s 6d j Loan a/c credit, £2 7s 9d , Interest a/c credit, £l2 8s; Outstanding rates, £llll3s Bd, Satisfaction was expressed with the manner in which the work of the Boardhadbeen conducted, the roads being in a lair state of repair. Many new works had been undertaken and completed in a satisr, factory manner, Tbe meeting then adjourned.
