THE OPENING HUNT.

The hunt at South Featherston on Saturday next promises to be a grea success, There will bo a very large field of huntsmen, including a number of visitors from Wellington, The ground solcctcd for the run is really first rate, being good level award all the way with b great variety ol jumps, Care has been taken to make the jumps strong and wide, but not high, Mr C. Pharazyn, junior, will dispense hospitality nt Longwood, nnd the huntsmen will no doubt do this part of the day's pleasure full justice. The " throw off" takes placo in ono of the small liaddocks in the rear of the Longwood homestead. I'he first run leads over the properties of Messrs Pharazyn, Jackson nnd Willis, The drag will tlien be taken down to Mr B, Burt's paddock on tho opposite side of the road, and the trail will ho laid across the paddocks of Messrs F. Burt, ftix and Willis, Both runs may be seen to advantage from the South Featherston district road. The arrange-, mouts generally, both as regards sportsmen and onlookers, will be found to bo very complete, and a fine day is now all that is required to assure the success of the opening meet of the hunting season.
