Pahiatua, Wednesday. Mrs Spargo appeared yesterday on remand before Messrs Reese and Briggs, Justices, to answer the charge of bigamy, Mr TobswHl appeared for the prosecution and Mr Smith for tho accused,
John Spargo gave evidence of tho marriage by him toaocused at Master» jton on 4th August, 1873. Vamcs Walker, witness to the marriage, corroborated this evidence. William Sniith, sailor, ofßlenlieim, proved'the marriage on Sjnd JanuHry , 1891, between his' broker,' Charles • Smith, and accpse'd jit the' Registry OfSce, Wellington, Witness arrived 1 in Now 55saland in August, 1888, and for a year afterwards lived with his; brother, Mrs Spargo also lived wiili them. On onc.occasion she informed witness that her husband, John Spargo, was living, Mr Smith reserved the defence of the accused, and she was then comBitted for trial. Bail was allowed,
