MUNICIPAL FIRE BRIGADE.
Sixth Annual Meeting.-
Tho sixth annual meeting of the Masterton Municipal Fire Brigade was held in the Station, Church-street, last (Tuesday) evening. About forty liremen were present. Captain Pickeriug presiding.
After thu ususl routine business, the Secretary read thu attendance marks for the year, the prize winners being as follows:—Engineer G. Smith, 64 points, £110.1; S':oreiary Marsh, 60 points, £1 h fid; Captain Pickering, 69 points, £lss; Branchman Byrnes, 56 points, £1 2s 6d; Foreman Pragnull, 58 points, £1; Bianchman 0, Ewingtou, 44 poiuts, 15s, The balance-sheet for the past year wai read as follows, aud adopted : General Account —Receipts, £29 7s; expenditure, £29 6s Gil, Uniform and Plant Account—Receipts, £25; expenditure, £22 16s 6d; leaving a credit balance of £2 3s 6d.
The annual report was withheld until it has been presented to the Borough Council, Secretary A. Pybus presented a report upon the working of the Kuri. puni branch of the Brigade. The report was received and adopted, The election of officers then took place, with tho following result:— Masterton Branch—Lieutenant J, fait (re-elected); Foreman, F, Bacon; Secretary, J, Baumber (re-elected) ; Assistant Foreman, M. O'Meara; Bianchmen,B, M'Guire, O.Ewington, D, E, Smith, and J, Prentice; Messenger, H, Marsh junr, re-elected, Kurupuni Branch- Leiutenant, W, Morris (reelected) ; Foreman, S, Shepherd (re-elected); Secretary, A, Pybus (re-elected); Branchmen, H. !Mutrie, and H, Greatbead; Engine-, keeper, H. Hewit; Mossenger, H, Cartwright. A bonus of £2 2s wss granted to the Secretary, Mr H, Marsh, for his services, and % bonus o( 20s to the messenger,
The sum of £o was granted to the Kurupuni branch of the Brigade, to be used as the members may decide, Tt was resolved that £5 be set apart as prizes for competition by the Masterton branch'of the Brigade, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers, and was conveyed to them by Captain Pickering in a neat speech. A vote of thanks was also passed by acolamation to Captain Pickering, The Captain briefly returned thanks and the proceedings termina'cd.
