Dr M'lnerney, of Melbourne, ia said to have used his cure tor influenza with great success. The main reliance is plaoed on perohloride of mercury, ad« ministered in small doses of from one* sixteenth to •ne-twenfcieth of a gram, given every two hours until the tempefi* tuie of the patieHt resumes its normal ranne, after which an ordinary tonio treatment will suffice to restore health. This medicine, we are told, was selected simply because it is the most powerful antiseptic known, and it destroys the germ which originates the disease, as well as the poison secreted by the growth of the germ. It should be administered only by medical men, as patients should not temporise or trifle with tho disease, especially if they are advanced in years. After the temperature of the foyer whioh exists in this disease has been reduced to the healthy figure, the ..treatment is stopped, and, if possible, the patient goes away for a change of air, which is very important, as the affection may settle into a permanent weakness of the lung* or end in a fatal consumption.
