For some time past the question of rain-making has been dismissed in the local press, tlie outcome of the long spell of comparatively dry weather. To-day a meeting was held to divise means ot experimentinj; iu the same manner us in Tlip footing was largely attended by farmers and others, and after'the mattor had been pretty fully discussed, a committee was appointed to carry out the arrange menus for the expeririiept, and another was appointed to canvas for subscriptions. Already a large amount of money bar. been collected, A good deal of interest way taken iji tjie matter, and it is certain that the experiment will be carried out. A 6rie shower of rain fell this morning, but I this only added to the wish to test I whether rain can be produced by artificial means.
